Vacuuming With a Robot Hoover is the Best Hands-Off Model We've Tested
This high-end bot from Eufy is the most hands-free model we've tested to date. It vacuums, mops, self-empties its bin, washes and dry mop pads with no intervention from you.
It's not equipped with the latest cleaning techniques and a larger docking station but delivers a stellar performance for less than half the price of top-end robot vacuums. It has a compact design and can be positioned to reach under furniture.
Vacuuming
A robot vacuum is a simple and quick way to keep your floors clean. Many of the robots we've chosen are designed to operate without any involvement from you, so you can set them up to clean while you're away, or even trigger the session using your smartphone. You'll need to choose an excellent robot that can navigate and object detection to avoid it getting stuck in furniture or on the stairs.
It's important to select the right robot vacuum to effectively and efficiently clean all types of flooring. Look for a robot with a large dustbin that will hold a lot of dirt between emptyings and a nozzle that does not lose suction as it rotates.
Most robots require little to any maintenance, other than taking hair that has become tangled off the rotating brush (and wiping its cameras or sensors, as needed) after every cleaning session, and then emptying the dustbin or a self-emptying base when the robot is equipped with one. If you follow these simple steps to maintain your robot, the vacuum will last as long as full-size vacuums and keep your home cleaner for longer.
While robot mops tend to be less versatile than vacuums Some have the capability of absorbing spills and puddles while working. The iLife V3s Pro, a great example of machine, is a fantastic choice for those with carpets, rugs, or wood floors. It's quiet and has solid navigation capabilities that helped it avoid obstacles during testing, and the charging dock doubles as a trash can.
For the best results, select an appliance that can do both vacuuming and mopping at the same time. Karcher's RCV 5 can do that, and also has other features that are useful including a live camera, which broadcasts a grainy picture to your app, so you can keep an eye on your kids or pet and remote controls that are easily programable. Its navigation isn't as solid as the other models in our collection however it is able to lift it over low thresholds and comes with a large 500ml dustbin that doesn't have to be cleaned frequently.
Mopping
Robots that vacuum and mop are a fairly new addition to the market. They're more expensive than standalone robots and require an additional water tank, but the extra cost may be worth it for some people, particularly those who have difficult-to-clean stains or pets.
The best robots that vacuum and mop can also be very effective cleaning floors with no carpets. Many brands offer robots that can do both jobs very effectively. The Combo J9+ is one of the most efficient mopping machines that we have test. It has a dock that can store up to 60 days' worth of debris. This is a significant improvement over the Qrevo Pro which ran out water after only mopping 30 days worth of dirt in our tests.
The Tapo RV30 plus from networking giant TP Link is a excellent two-in-one. It's compact quiet and has an attractive, clutter-free appearance. In our test rooms, it scrubbed the floors thoroughly and accurately and efficiently. It was particularly effective on rugs but it took several runs to thoroughly clean some areas of soiled wood. Its LIDAR navigation system functions well too, avoiding bumping into furniture or crossing power cords.
It's a bit sluggish on the stairs however, that's to be expected in a compact robot that's designed to work around obstacles. The only drawback is that its mopping pads are difficult to attach and didn't stay in place during our tests. It also isn't equipped to deal with dirt that has dried and makes it more of a vacuum cleaner than a full-fledged robot mop.
Despite these shortcomings It's still a good option for those looking for a hands-off cleaning experience that can take care of carpets with equal competence. It was able to provide a lot of suction, which helped it pick up fine dust from pet hair and carpets. One of the best features is its automatic recognition of carpets, which increases the strength of the vacuuming to better tackle embedded dirt. It is easy to use and the charging dock automatically empty the trash bin when it's full. This is an excellent feature for apartment dwellers.

Cleaning Apps
Most robot vacuums, mops and sweepers have an application that lets you customize cleaning routines. You can also select rooms to be cleaned, schedule cleaning sessions and change settings like suction, the amount of water and scrubbing power. smart robot offer intelligent dirt detection, which makes use of the data from previous cleaning sessions and maps data to identify areas that are dirty and optimize cleaning mode.
The app allows you to set up virtual barriers and no-go zones to protect your robot from potentially dangerous objects like cords and pet water bowls and sharp objects. Some models have laser navigation sensors that allow you to create virtual barriers, while others feature small physical barriers and boundary strips that can be put anywhere you wish to restrict your floor area.
The top robot vacuums and mops are smart enough to detect obstacles and avoid them However, there are some hazards to watch out for. The principal brush of a robot can get stuck in long cords or curtains and stop it dead in its tracks. To avoid this, you can clear the area of cords and tie up any long curtains.
Certain robots automatically update their software that regulates the algorithm for navigation and obstacle avoidance. This improves performance and decreases the wear and tear on the robot's internal parts. It's a good idea periodically to check the manufacturer's site or your robot's app for firmware updates.
If you have a huge home, look for models that offer multiple cleaning modes. The iRobot Roomba 11S Max, for instance, can be used to vacuum and mop on both hard floors and carpeted rooms that have different suction levels. It can also switch automatically to the power setting to the highest level when cleaning carpets, and boost its scrubbing strength with SmartScrub.
A robot with an integrated voice assistant is a great choice if you want to be hands-free. The iRobot Roomba 980 can be controlled by Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant. It has a compact self-emptying docking station as well as an efficient cleaning engine that will leave your floors sparkling.
